The tax rate in Tonopah will rise slightly in the fiscal year that began July 1, with a hike in the Tonopah Library District rate. Elsewhere, tax rates remain unchanged in Nye County.

AUTHOR'S NOTE: Elementary student population in the Pahrump Valley was 65 in the 1966-67 school year. Five years later, it was 246, with more than 100 traveling by bus to attend classes at Death Valley High School.

Cotton was king in the valley (Pahrump Valley Times)
